Smith Funeral Home P.O.Box 515 Wadley, Ga. 30477 Ph. 478-252-5903 Obituary Notice January 19, 2012 Mrs. Vera Cox Rachels, age 95, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her country home outside of Wadley, Georgia on January 18, 2012. She was born March 17, 1916, the oldest daughter of the late Malcom and Addie Belle Cox and remained a life long resident of South Jefferson County. Vera graduated in 1932 from Wadley High School and was the youngest in her class at age 16. She retired from the Bank of Wadley in 1986 at the age of 70 with many cherished memories of her co-workers and customers. Vera was married to the late Alvin Rachels. She is survived by three sons, Howard (Nancy) of Alexandria, Va., Ronald and Alan (Dottie) of Marietta, Ga. Her brother Lynwood Cox (Barbara) of Dry Branch, Ga. Her Grandchildren, Heather Rachels of Alexandria, Va., Sheila (Jim) Pearson of Manassas, Va. and Nathan (Anne) Rachels of Alpharetta, Ga. Great Grandchildren, Emily and Rachel Pearson of Manassas, Va. and Jackson, Taylor and Payton Rachels of Alpharetta, Ga. She dearly loved her family, friends and Coleman's Chapel. She will be remembered as someone who lifted their spirits, was always upbeat, full of life and an inspiration to all. Special thanks to her loving caregivers Marie Brown, Teresa Cowart and Erica Cox. Visitation will be at 2 pm Sunday, January 22nd at Coleman's Chapel UMC followed by a memorial service at 3 pm, Rev.
