Tomlinson Funeral Home and Crematory announces the death of Mrs. Vandilla Snellgrove Gay, age 82, on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at her home in the Wesley Community following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at Nunez Baptist Church with Reverend Jim Harrell officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.  Interment will follow in the Youmans Cemetery in Nunez.  Pallbearers will be nephews.

Mrs. Gay was born on February 4,1940 to E.W. "Cat" Snellgrove, Sr. and Rosa Mae Brown Snellgrove.  She attended Emanuel County Schools and was a member of the 1958 graduating class of Swainsboro High School.  She was proud of the fact that she had perfect attendance all 12 years of school!  Mrs. Gay spent 23 years as a legal secretary at a law firm in Savannah.  She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Nunez Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 63 years Bobby Oscar Gay, brothers E. W. "Buck" Snellgrove, Jr., Luther Elvis Snellgrove, William Lovette Snellgrove, Elma Snellgrove, and sisters Estelle McKay, Thelma Shehan, and Atha Bearden.

Survivors include one son, Kevin(Beth) Gay, grandson Steven Gay, all of Wesley, one sister, Rose Ellen Snellgrove Derriso of Swainsboro, and many nieces and nephews.
