Timothy Wayne Hendrix, 67, of Lyons, died April 2, 2020, after an extended illness. Tomlinson Funeral Home will provide cremation services.
Tim Hendrix was born in Waynesboro on January 8, 1953, to the late Vivian and Raymond Hendrix, Jr. He grew up in Swainsboro and eventually settled in Lyons. He held a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Public Administration degree from Georgia Southern University.
He retired from Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant as a reactor operator after 35+ years of service. Tim was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, the Sons of American Revolution, Swainsboro Country Club, and the Altamaha Regional Shooters Club. He was also a former member of the Georgia Power Ambassadors. Tim was an avid reader and history buff. He was also an avid sports fan. He loved the Georgia Bulldogs and playing golf. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in life by brothers Stephen Hendrix and Andy Hendrix. Survivors include wife, Judy Williams Hendrix of Lyons; sister, Donna Hendrix of Swainsboro; daughter, Beth Weekly (Bryan) of Fayetteville; step-son, Morgan Jersey (Brittany) of Swainsboro; sister-in-law, Jean Hendrix of Covington; grandchildren, Douglas Mitchell (Taylor); Nick Mitchell; Carly Jersey; and Thorne Jersey. One great-granddaughter, Winter Shelby Mitchell. There are also a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Due to the Georgia mandate, there will be a private memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Emanuel County Animal Shelter, 343 Market St., Swainsboro, GA or the Sweet Onion Animal Protection Society, P. O. Box 210, Vidalia, GA 30475.
