Shirley B. Salter, 87, formerly of Wadley, GA, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Cambridge Corry in Corry, PA.

She was born July 14, 1935, in Kite, GA, a daughter of the late Martin and Evie Lee (Edge) Brantley. Shirley was raised and educated in Kite, GA and graduated as the Valedictorian from Kite High School in 1952. After high school, she met and then married her husband, Earl, on October 30, 1953, in Swainsboro, GA. They started a family and she worked for a shirt factory for many years. She eventually was the bookkeeper for her husband's company, S & M Logging and was until he passed. Shirley then worked for her best friend's business, Bonita's Caterers. She worked with her until she retired at 70.  She was a member of the Wadley United Methodist church in Georgia and sang in the choir. She coached softball for many years at the Thomas Jefferson Academy. She was a member of the Birthday Club, which was a club invented by her friends where they met for each of their birthdays and whoever's birthday it was, they were in charge of making the cake for the next ladies' birthday. She loved walking with her friends every morning.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl B. Salter; sister, Elizabeth Salter and two brothers, Leonard, and Tommy Brantley.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Donna Marbach and her husband Donald of Clymer, NY; sister, Ann Veal of Wrightsville, GA; granddaughter, Katie Lictus and her husband Dan of Clymer, NY; great-granddaughter, Isla Lictus and great-grandson, Brom Lictus.

The family will receive friends Saturday, June 10, 2023 at the Wadley Methodist Church from 10:00 AM until time of services

Graveside services will be Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 12:00 PM in the Wadley City Cemetery with rev. Chris Shoemaker officiation.
