Dr. Robert (Bob) Nicholas Herz, age 74, Twin City resident , died Wednesday at Emanuel Medical Center. Bob was the son of the late Nick and Emilie Herz. He had lived in Vidalia for more than 30 years and had lived here for the past 10 years. He owned and operated a health food store. Dr. Herz had been employed by the Southern Company as Public Relations Director and had worked as a Nuclear Engineer at Plant Hatch. He had served as Deputy Coroner of Montgomery County for 16 years. He was the District Emergency Coordinator of the Southeast District of Georgia for the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) serving 28 Georgia Counties. He was a member of the RV Service Net, WALLY, and BYAM Caravan Club. Dr. Herz was a United States Air Force Veteran and a member of the SDA Church of Statesboro. Memorial services for Dr. Herz will be held Friday evening at 7:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Tomlinson Funeral Home with Reverend Louis Pearce officiating.
