Nancy Jane Smith, 77, of Stevens Crossing, GA
passed peacefully on Saturday afternoon, March

, at the home of her dear friends and adopted family

Jody and Brenda Johnson, and their
children Perry and Ly

,
of Summertown.
As a long-time educator,
retired for the past decade, many residents of Summertown and
Swainsboro will remember her as their favorite teacher.
Though she spent several years teaching in A
ugusta and Savannah, she alwa
y
s returned to her
home place at Stevens Crossing.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 A.M. from the Chapel of Tomlinson Funeral Home with Pastor Ricky Downs and Pastor Keith Claxton officiating. Visitation 6-8 P.M. Monday evening at Tomlinson Funeral Home.
Her burial will be in the Stevens Family cemetery at Stevens Crossing alongside her famil

was the great, great granddaughter of W
i
lliam Stevens who settled in Emanuel Count
y in 1813
from North Carolina, and the granddaughter of Ben B. Stevens of Stevens Crossing. Her love of
history came from this rich heritage.
She was a life-long member of Summertown Baptist Church and sang there for years in the
choir
.
She was predeceased b
y
her father,
Horace Smith, her mother Madelle Stevens Smith, and her
brother
, Ben Smith. She is survived by her cousins, Bonny Giradot T
