December 31, 2012 Mrs. Mattie Jean Smith, of Swainsboro, died Monday evening at her residence. Mrs. Smith was born in Swainsboro,GA daughter of the late Luther and Edith Mcneely Scott . Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her sister, Connie Cross. She had lived in Port Wentworth where her parents had moved in the early 1940's until 1952 when she married her husband Otis and moved to various places throughout the United States while her husband served in the United States Marine Corps. In 1969 they returned to live in Swainsboro. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 A.M. from the chapel of Tomlinson Funeral Home with Reverend Hugh Spivey and Reverend Franklin Sasser officiating. Interment will follow in Lambs Cemetery . Pallbearers will be Wade Bedingfield,Pete Boatright,Rodney Beckworth,Gary Hodges, Jimmy Wilson and Billy Mcneely. The family of Mrs. Mattie Jean Smith will receive friends at Tomlinson Funeral Home Wednesday evening between the hours of 6-8 P.M.
