Mrs. Rachels, born in Jefferson County had lived most of her life in Wadley, but lived in Covington, GA from 1985 to 2009 She was a member of Coleman Chapel United Methodist Church, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Friendship Club of First United Methodist Church of Covington, and the Lady Huntington Chapter, and the Sergeant Newton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Covington, GA. She was a homemaker and the oldest living Graduate of Wadley High School. She was preceded in death by: her husband, George Wesley Rachels Sr., her parents, Walter and Sallie Cox, a great grandchild, Rachel Callie Meadows, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Memorials may be made to Coleman Chapel United Methodist Church in care of Ruth Paul.7118 River Rd. Wadley, Ga. 30477, in memory of Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Cox Rachels. Funeral services will be Saturday at 3:00 pm. at Coleman Chapel United Methodist, with Reverend Pat Holbert, and Reverend David Boggs officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Grandsons; George Rachels, Vic Rachels, Charles Rachels, Steve Archer, Stuart Archer, and Jimmie Rider. She is survived by: 4 children: George Wesley Rachels, Jr. (Mary Sue) ,Wadley,GA Sally Anne Archer (Ernest), Rock Hill,SC Bobbie Jean Grover, Martinez,GA James Clark Rachels, Hapeville,GA 12 Grandchildren 22 Great Grandchildren A sister: Lula Bernice Vaughn Smith Rachels Many Nieces and Nephews.
