Mary Elizabeth Carroll Foskey, 90, of Swainsboro passed away January 27, 2025, at the Fellowship Home at Meriwether in Milledgeville, GA. A native of Wrightsville, GA, Mrs. Foskey was born June 27, 1934, to Willie Clifford & Eliza Maddox Carroll. She grew up in Wrightsville, graduating from Wrightsville High School in 1951. Mrs. Foskey attended Andrew College in Cuthbert, GA. On December 12, 1954, she married Ralph Foskey of Adrian, GA.
Mrs. Foskey worked for over 50 years in the banking industry at the Central Bank of Swainsboro, First Federal Savings & Loan and the Spivey State Bank. Right up to her death, she continued to say how much she missed working in the bank. Mrs. Foskey also worked at David Emanuel Academy as school secretary.
Mrs. Foskey was an active member of Swainsboro First Methodist Church and was a member of the Gordon Fountain Sunday School Class.
Her favorite hobby was sewing. She sewed almost all of the outfits that her daughter, Jan, wore through high school including beauty pageant and prom dresses. She was also famous for "Mama Mary" homemade biscuits, homemade lemon pie and pitchers of delicious sweet tea.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 65 years Ralph Foskey, her beloved daughter Jan Foskey Hemphill, brothers Reuben Carroll, Lester Carroll, Elmer Carroll, Thurmon Carroll, sisters Rosa Lee Hoover, Irene Kitchens and Virginia Brantley.
She is survived by her:

Son-in-law, Jim Hemphill of Evans, GA,
Grandchildren, Walt Foskey (Caitlin) of Birmingham, AL, Elizabeth Hemphill of Evans, GA, Hope Foskey Davis (Taylor) of Alabaster, AL, and Wes Foskey (Cassidy) of Lake Oconee,
Sister Hazel Carroll Rachels of Wrightsville, GA
Brother-in-law Jim Wilson of Sylvania, GA
6 Great-Grandchildren and a number of Nieces and Nephews.
The family wishes to say a special thank you to Ricky Tillman who served as her primary caregiver after Ralph's death, to the staff of Church Street Manor in Swainsboro, the staff of the Fellowship Home at Meriwether in Milledgeville, Marcus Johnson's caregivers in Milledgeville - Angela, Quita, Kayla, Jessica & Tancy and Georgia Hospice Care.

Funeral service in the Tomlinson Funeral Home Chapel at 12:00 pm with the Rev. Tom Tidwell & the Rev. Jim Harrell officiating.
Interment will follow the service in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.
