Tomlinson Funeral Home & Crematory announces the death of Mrs. Martha Taylor Wilson age 83 of Swainsboro.

Mrs. Martha T. Wilson went to be with her heavenly father on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.

Martha was born on February 10, 1941 in Dickson, Tenn. to Joel R. Taylor and Maureen Scarborough. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Don, and granddaughter Eve.

Martha met her husband in 1959 at Murray University in Murray, KY and was married 37 years. They moved to Swainsboro in 1965. She was an educator in the public school system in Emanuel County for 27 years, having received her Masters in Education and EDS from Georgia Southern University. Although she was a teacher by profession her influence extended far beyond a classroom. She didn't just teach lessons from textbooks, she also taught lessons of life.  Unwavering faith, strong will, patience, courage- these were some of the principles she lived by and instilled in those around her.

Her life's journey was not only a testament of faith, but a testimony of the Lord and all His greatness.  She treasured each day the Lord gave her to the fullest and looked for everyway she could to draw nearer to Him.  She had an unexplainable peace about her.  She knew her blessings were from the Lord and she lived to share them and bless others anyway she could.  She took great pride in teaching his word and stressing the need to help others. her immeasurable faith and trust in the lord was unwavering.

She had a sharp sense of humor. She loved to laugh and make others laugh. Her smile and positivity were infectious. She had a zest for life, a spirit that was indominable. She was a strong willed and strong minded lady. Some would call her hardheaded, she would have agreed. She found joy in the simple things and her loved ones to appreciated the little moments that make life so beautiful. One of her favorite "little things" was bundling up in her covered swing to read a book in the rain. She loved the rain and loved to read.

She was truly a blessing from God and we rest assured, as did she, that we will be reunited.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Summertown Baptist Church with Rev. John Durden officiating.
