Mrs. Martha J. Blizzard, 89, resident of Adrian , passed away Tuesday morning in Swainsboro.  Martha was born in Emanuel County, daughter of the late  Morris T. Barwick and Sarah Elizabeth Flanders Barwick. She had been employed by Southern Bell Telephone Company in Macon,Ga and  Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Company in Norfolk, Virginia where she worked as a ship to shore radio telephone operator.  She had also worked as a long distance operator  for the C&P Telephone Co. in Annapolis, Maryland  and was a homemaker. Martha was a member of Sardis Primitive Baptist Church.  Martha and Elmer were married for 70 years.  Her passion in life was her grandchildren and her great grandchild.

Mrs. Blizzard was preceded in death by her brothers-- Cephas Barwick, Charles E.  Barwick, Donald E. Barwick and sisters Nan Lou Mosley, Ruby Barwick Brantley, Mary Barwick Smith and Almedia Barwick Schunk.

Graveside services for Mrs. Martha J. Blizzard will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. from Sardis  Cemetery  with Elder Sam Adkins and Elder Lindy Webb, Jr. officiating. The Family will receive friends at the cemetery one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sardis Cemetery Fund  c/o Trojan  Harrison, 1275 Wes Lawson Road, Kite, GA 31049.
