August 31, 2015 Mrs. Lillian M. Bishop,97, resident of Summertown, died Monday evening in the Emanuel County Nursing Home. Mrs. Bishop was born in Columbia , SC and had lived in Summertown all of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents Harmon and Maggie Muns, her husband Harley B. Bishop, a son- Paul W Bishop, Grandson_Christopher J. Boulineau, brothers--Robert Muns, Sim Muns, Phillip Muns and Paul Mathis, 2 Sisters--Grace Muns and Esther Mathis Boyer. Mrs. Bishop owned and operated Bishop's General Store for over 65 years.She attended the Ripley Hill School near Canoochee and later at the Summertown public school. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, but was active in the Bishop Chapel Baptist Church and Long Creek Primitive Baptist Church. She organized the Baptist Training Union at Bishop Chapel Church in the late 40's and directed it for a number of years. She also was a Sunday School teacher at Bishop Chapel. She was a member of AARP and was one of the first original members of the Emanuel County Home Demonstration Club and later the Summertown Homemakers Club and a member of the "Joy Club" at Canoochee Baptist Church. Funeral services for Mrs. Lillian Bishop will be held Friday morning at 11:00 A.M. from the Chapel of Tomlinson Funeral Home with Elder Tommy Rountree officiating. Interment will follow in the Swainsboro City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be -- Keith Boulineau, Mike Boulineau, Steve Bishop, Carl Denton, Jay Anderson, Kelly Boulineau and Christopher Jones. The Family will receive friends Thursday evening at Tomlinson Funeral Home between the hours of 6-8 P.M. Survivors include: Children-- Joan P. Boulineau, Swainsboro,GA, Bunny Bishop, Atlanta,GA Charles Terry Bishop, Tarrytown,GA , Linda K.
