Tomlinson Funeral Home & Crematory announces the death of Mr. Leland Tapley age 91 of Kite on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Emanuel Medical Center Nursing Home.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the 2:00 PM in the Tomlinson Funeral Home chapel Rev. Burton Dixon & Trent Boulineau officiating.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Toole, Travis Toole, Chad Tapley, Jason Toole, Donnie Tapley, and Cody Usry.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in the Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery near Kite.

Mr. Tapley was born near Summertown in 1934 to the late Walter Hinton and Thelma Kate Bishop Tapley. He retired from Roper Industries in Swainsboro and a member of Kite Baptist Church. Leland loved fishing, riding his golf cart and enjoying meals with friends and family. In addition to his parents Leland was preceded in death by his wife Mary Newsome Tapley, brothers David Tapley and Walter Henry Tapley, sister Carolyn Tapley.

Survivors include:

Sisters: Lessie Tapley Beasley of Swainsboro and Henrietta Tapley Toole of Stockbridge

Brother: Eddie Lewis Tapley (Brenda) of Milledgeville

Stepson: Billy Newsome

Step Granddaughter: Karen Slater

Step Great-Grandson: Cody Usry
