October 12,2014 Julia C. Matis, age 92, resident of Swainsboro, died Sunday evening at Emanuel Medical Center Nursing Home. Julia was born in Wampum, PA and had lived here for the past 3 years. Julia was a member of Shenango Christian Church in New Castle,PA. She enjoyed church, working in her gardens and Bingo. She especially loved her children and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren,telling them about living on a dairy and sharing recipes. She had been a store owner and a pottery worker. Julia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 5 brothers and 6 sisters. Funeral services for Julia Carol Matis will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:00 P.M. at the Stillmore Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Arthur Conley and Reverend George Archer officiating. Interment will follow in Union Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dustin Scott, Shaun Holbrook,Travis Bowman, Tommy Finley, and J.R. McCoy.
