Mr. John L. Stewart, 96, resident of Swainsboro, died Sunday morning .  Mr. Stewart was born  in Thomas County ,Georgia son of the late U.C. Stewart and Eula Owens Stewart.  John was a WWII veteran of the United States Navy  serving aboard the USS Samuel N. Moore.  Mr. Stewart had retired from the United States Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service.  He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.

Funeral services for Mr. John L. Stewart will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. from the chapel of Tomlinson Funeral Home  with Reverend Mark Miller officiating.  Interment with Military Honors will follow at Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery .  The Family will receive friends at Tomlinson Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon  from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral service at 2:00 P.M. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mr. Stewart.
