Please keep in your prayers the family of Mr. John R. Scott, 80, of Twin City who passed away Sunday, January 1, 2023, at his home surrounded by those he loved dearly.

Mr. Scott was born on October 31, 1942, in Emanuel County, GA to the late Luther Green and Bessie Davis Scott. He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 59 years, Sara Lou Kirkland Scott; siblings, Ruby Clifton, James Scott, Nealy Kirkland, Nellie Boatright, and Shirley Scarboro.

He was a master craftsman with most of his career spent in construction for over 45 years. He had a knack for working with his hands and could always be found outdoors tinkering with different odds and ends. He had a passion for farming and gardening. He was an avid sugar cane syrup maker of over 25 years. He was a self-taught handyman of many trades and a simple man. He had a love for music and could often be found scrolling through YouTube listening to various classic country music artists. Mr. Scott was known for hiswitty humor. He was a proud man and had a strong love for his family.

Survivors include his daughters, Sara Ellen White of Twin City and April Scott Hadden (Jimmy) of Lexsy, two granddaughters, Sara Amanda Dennis and Mackayla Autumn Oglesby both of Twin City; brother George R. Scott (Carole) of Metter, sister-in-laws, Virginia Kirkland Herndon (Richard) of Twin City and Dollie Kirkland of Swainsboro; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many precious friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at the Chapel of Tomlinson Funeral Home in Swainsboro, GA with Reverend George Archer officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Tomlinson Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Olliff, Randy Olliff, Paul Scott, Ronald Martin, Zack Martin, and Hagan Brown.
