Mr. John Emmitt Rountree, 74, resident of Swainsboro, died Sunday July 24,2016 at Pruitt Health in Swainsboro. John Emmitt was born in Emanuel County son of the late George Ivy and Louise Sconyers Rountree. He was a graduate of ECI class of 1960 and was a star football player on the ECI team. Mr. Rountree was a United States Army Veteran and a member and Deacon of Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church. He was a concrete finisher for over 50 years. In addition to his parents, John Emmitt was preceded in death by brothers-James Allen Rountree, George Robert Rountree, and Don Rountree, and a sister--Gloria Rigdill Johnson.

Funeral services for Mr. John Emmitt Rountree will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 A.M. from the Chapel of Tomlinson Funeral Home with Elder Calvin Watkins and Reverend Franklin Sasser officiating. Interment will follow at Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers will be : Ricky White, Jack White, Tommy Gene White, Allen White, Jason Wilcher , and Ricky Ackridge. The Family will receive friends Tuesday evening between the hours of 6-8 P.M. at Tomlinson Funeral Home.
