August 29, 2015 Mr. John L.Kirkland,Jr. 84, resident of Midville,Georgia, died Saturday afternoon at his residence. Mr. Kirkland was a native of Emanuel County. He was preceded in death by his wife Rosemarie Kirkland, brother Dan Kirkland, sister Ruenell Kirkland Thigpen , daughter in law Debbie Kirkland and a grandson Little Wilby Kirkland. Mr. Kirkland had retired from the United States Air Force and had later retired from Vulcan Materials. He had been a member of the American Legion for over 60 years and had served as Commander of American Legion Post 70. Graveside services with full military honors will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 A.M. from Kirkland Cemetery. The Family of Mr. John Kirkland,Jr. will receive friends Wednesday evening at Tomlinson Funeral Home between the hours of 5-8 P.M.
