March 12, 2014 Mr. John Amos Dukes, 89, resident of Dukes Road, Wadley died Wednesday evening at his residence. Mr. Dukes was a native and lifelong resident of Jefferson County. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the United States Army. Mr. Dukes was a carpenter and a member of Long Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Graveside services for Mr. Dukes will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. from Bethesda Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Wadley with Elder Tommy Rountree officiating. Grandsons will be pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Long Creek Primitive Baptist Church or Bethesda Primitive Baptist Church in memory of Mr. Dukes. The family of Mr. Dukes will receive friends at Smith Funeral Home Friday evening between the hours of 6-8 P.M.
