John William Council III (Jack) went to be with our Lord Saturday, February 18, 2017. Jack passed peacefully in his sleep at home after battling cancer and pneumonia. He was born in Swainsboro October 15, 1953. Jack was a graduate of Berry Academy in Rome, Georgia, and Emanuel County Junior College. He then attended the University of Georgia. He was a Master Artisan of many genres; to include painting (wildlife being his favorite), all types of woodwork, jewelry making, and stain glass work. In the early 1970's, Jack owned and operated a pet store in Swainsboro, Jack's Pet Emporium. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He greatly enjoyed the study of Native Americans, and was an amateur archaeologist.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents John William Council, Jr.and Delaine Key Council, owners of Keys Cafe; grandparents Charlie and Lucille Key, co-owners of Dolores and Woody's Shop of Swainsboro; sister Kim Council Vinson.
Survivors include his children John Brandon Youmans, Brande' Soleil Gray, and John Ryan Gray; sister Kay Council Beasley; grandchildren Zoey Isabella Gray, Jude Gray Thompson, and Charlotte Dior Lanier; several nieces and nephews.
