Obituary

John Albert Camp, 75, native son of Bartow, son of Colonel Pierce H. Camp and Harriette McMillan Camp, passed away on May 12, 2016, several weeks after having been diagnosed with lung cancer. He had lived for the past 23 years in Lubbock, Texas, working as a librarian and cataloger at Texas Tech's main library and then at Texas Tech's Southwest Collection. When he retired in 2014, he was granted an emeritus appointment, an honor bestowed by the university to recognize long and faithful and distinguished service. He was an avid collector of paperweights, primitive and Southwest art, and antique Chinese rugs. Albert is survived by his nieces Willena Moye and Beth Whitson and her family, his aunt, Patsy McMillan of Bartow, and several cousins. A graveside memorial will be held on Saturday, June 18 th at 4:30 in the afternoon at the Bartow Town Cemetery
