Mr. Jerry Dixon Powell, 79, resident of Wadley, died Wednesday morning at University Hospital in Augusta,Georgia. Mr. Powell was born in Johnson County,Georgia and had lived in Wadley most of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents-Walter and Katie Dixon Powell and his wife Barbara M. Powell. Mr. Jerry had owned and operated Powell Trucking Company. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church and a member of the Choir at St. John's. Mr. Jerry was a member of the Wadley Lions Club. Funeral services for Mr. Powell will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. from St. John's United Methodist Church with Reverend Hugh Baxter and Reverend Pat Holbert officiating. Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery in Wadley. Pallbearers will be : James Ronald Hickox, Charles R. Moore, Jr., James Anthony Moore, Timothy Emanuel Moore, Jr. Christopher Joseph Adams, John Paul DeBruhl, Ryan Mitchell Powell, and Andrew Wilson Powell. Survivors : 2 sons-- James A. Powell (Karen) Mitchell Powell Daughter-Patricia Bates (Russ) 6 Grandchildren-- John Paul Debruhl, Melissa Powell, Katie Debruhl, Ryan Powell, Andrew Powell, and Heather Powell. 2 sisters-- Asholyn Lampp , and Eleanor Maxwell The Family of Mr. Jerry Dixon Powell will receive friends at Smith Funeral Home Thursday evening between the hours of 6-8 P.M.
