AUGUSTA, Ga. - Jane Kemp Smith, 79, wife of the late Henry R. Smith, entered into eternal rest early Wednesday, Aug. 22, following a brief illness. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012, in the sanctuary of Covenant Presbyterian Church, 3131 Walton Way, in Augusta. Jane will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a wonderful and loyal friend. She had many friends in the community and was great friend to many. A gracious hostess to the end, Jane had a giving spirit, always willing to help anyone in need or offer a shoulder to lean on. She was a valued member of the Augusta community for more than 60 years, enjoying her work with the Junior Women's Club and the Metropolitan Women's Club. Jane is survived by her two daughters, Gae Ann Smith of Atlanta and Penelope J. Berry of Augusta; two sons, Henry R. (Skip) Smith II, of Augusta; James Carl Smith of Atlanta; five grandchildren, Hunter Smith, Connor Smith, Jordan Smith, Wyatt Smith, Stephanie Pendleton; two great-grandchildren, Abree and Sophia; and a brother, Wayne Kemp of Atlanta. The family wishes to thank her devoted caretaker, Rhonda Wichser, and the angels of Alliance Hospice Angie, Carrie and Anne.
