Mr. George Wesley Rachels, Jr. , 79, resident of Wadley, died Friday morning at Jefferson Hospital in Louisville.  Mr. Rachels was born in Jefferson County son of the late George W. Rachels,Sr. and  Mary Elizabeth Cox Rachels.  He was a graduate of North Georgia College and was the founder and owner of  Rachels Machine and Fabrication in Wadley.He had worked for Jefferson County Assessors office for 20 years.  George and Mary Sue had been married for nearly 57 years.  George was a member of the Bartow Community Club, Wadley Lions Club and the Wadley Methodist Church. He was a United States Army Veteran.  Mr. Rachels was preceded in death by a son- Victor Rachels.

Funeral services for Mr. George Wesley Rachels, Jr. will be held Tuesday, January 31,2017 at 2:00 P.M. from the Wadley Methodist Church with Reverend Chris Shoemaker, Reverend David Boggs and Reverend Tom Harrison officiating.  Interment will follow in the Wadley Cemetery with Military Honors.    Pallbearers will be:  Chip Evans, Terrell McMillan, Hubert Jordan, Tommy Battle, Randy Huber ,  Bobby Brett, Rocky Stewart, and Allen Rachels..

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Wadley Lions Club , present or past  members) , United Methodist Men, and the Will Evans Sunday School Class.
The Family will receive friends at Wadley United Methodist Church Monday evening between the hours of 5-8 P.M.
