Mr. Forrest Glenn Watkins, 95, resident of Brooklet,Georgia, died Monday ,August 23,2021 in Statesboro.  Glenn was born in Kite, Georgia, son of the late Mills B. Watkins, Jr. and Martha Elizabeth (Mattie) Crawford Watkins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-Jesse Watkins and Hugh Watkins and sisters-- Evelyn Watkins Brown, Rachel Watkins Greenway, and Missy Watkins.   Glenn was a  talented musician and owner of Watkins Insurance Agency in Albany, Georgia. He played in the Dixie Playboys Band. Glenn was inducted into the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame in November 2001.  In Albany, Glenn had been a member of the  Masonic Lodge 693  and Masonic Lodge 861. He was a member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board and the Albany Christian Business Committee. Glenn was a member of the Albany Civitan Club and the Albany Amateur   Radio Club,  and was a member of the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame. He was a member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church.

Funeral services for Glenn Watkins will be held Saturday, August 28,2021 at 11:00 A.M. from the Kite First Baptist Church with Reverend Burton Dixon and Reveremd W.L. Currie officiating. Interment will follow in the Kite City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Ward, Brian Beegle , Larry Morris, Zach Watkins, Tony Watkins, and Josh Ward.  The Family will receive friends at Kite First Baptist Church one hour prior to the service.
