Obituary

Elizabeth Lynne Drake, age 70, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2022, after a fifteen-year battle with Mitochondrial Failure. Lynne lived in Hoschton, GA with her beloved husband, Phil Drake. They were blessed with six children Adam (Melanie) Drake, Erin (Daniel) Drake Breed, Megan (David) Drake Ness, Jenna (Armando) Drake Martinez, Matthew (Jenny) Drake, and Stephen (Kelsi) Drake. Lynne was blessed with eighteen grandchildren whom all called her "Gramma". Lynne is also survived by a sister Mary and two brothers, John and Doug. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Terry Finigan.
How do you sum up the life of such a precious woman? I will try. Lynne Drake loved Jesus with every ounce of her being and it simply radiated off her. She was a calm, gentle, and joyful person whose arms were always open to anyone who needed a hug. She was slow to anger, quick to love, and full of Godly wisdom. She opened her home to all her children's friends who needed a safe place to process life. Lynne loved to cook new recipes, and for the most part, they were wonderful, except for the pea soup. She would blast Handel's Messiah every December. Lynne was a born teacher, and loved to teach her grandchildren how to knit, crochet and make new recipes. She danced in the kitchen and loved Rush Limbaugh. Lynne loved baking goodies and sending them to her grandchildren and adored her husband, children, and grandchildren with her whole heart.
During the last years of her life as her body wasted away and the sickness brought many dark days, her faith shown all the brighter for it. We, her family and friends, have lost many precious years with this amazing woman whom we grieve, but we rejoice knowing she is free of pain and with her Savior.  We will see her again in Glory.
Come celebrate the life of Lynne Drake Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 10:30 am at Church of the Redeemer (5185 Peachtree Dunwoody Rd, Atlanta, GA 30342) with the Rev. Ewan Kennedy officiating. Reception to follow. The service will be live streamed at: https://youtu.be/XZoA8eOGSig
