Donna Smith Lamb passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, Georgia. Donna was born on December 27, 1948, in Gainesville, Florida, and was a lifelong resident of Wadley, Georgia. She was a graduate of Wadley High School and Georgia Southern College, as well as Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service.

Donna devoted 37 years of her life to education, serving primarily in Jefferson County, where she led the elementary and middle school gifted program. She created many meaningful and memorable experiences for her students aboard her beloved "little bus," M56, and considered it a great honor to be known as "the teacher of the gifted."

In addition to her teaching career, she worked for many years alongside her father, Donovan E. Smith, at Smith Funeral Home. Following his passing, she inherited the funeral home and continued his legacy with heartfelt commitment, faithfully serving the community she loved with passion and dedication. She later worked in partnership with Tomlinson Funeral Home for many years after the merger of the businesses.

A faithful member of Wadley Baptist Church, Donna gave generously of her time and talents. She served with love and loyalty in numerous capacities, including choir director, organist, Sunday school teacher, and, most recently, Sunday school director.

Donna's caring heart and dedication to serving others defined her life. Her cherished passions, including family, friends, music, theater, Shakespeare, and animals, were always accompanied by a generosity of spirit and a desire to make a difference. She shared her love of the performing arts by frequently serving as a director with the Bartow Schoolhouse Players, inspiring countless young performers, and generously contributing her time and talent to the community. She lived life to the fullest, touching the lives of all who knew her with kindness, service, and joy.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Donovan E. Smith and Annelle Henderson Smith; her brother, Louis Smith; her great-nephew, Scotty Reece; and her beloved horse, Charlie.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 27 years, Davey Lamb; niece, Tracy Smith Reece (Scott); nephew, Andrew Smith (Alyson); great-nieces, Paige Wooten (Justin), Ava Jade Smith, and Addi June Smith; great-great-niece, Lily Wooten; and fur babies, Sophie and Cookie (Bozo).

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Wadley Baptist Church, with Reverend David Brown and Reverend Chad Watkins officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to services.
