Obituary

Dona Elaine Farr Glass, 67, of Swainsboro, Georgia, went to be with her Savior on August 10, 2020. After a long battle with cancer, she died at Augusta University Medical Center, Augusta, Georgia.

Dona was born August 20, 1952, in Macon, Georgia. She graduated from Bibb Tech High School in 1971, and then attended Prairie Bible College in Alberta, Canada, graduating in 1975. After Bible college, she taught school for several years at Cross Keys Christian Academy, Macon, Georgia.

Everyone who knew Dona claimed her as their own and loved her deeply. She was a loving mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, aunt and friend. For most of her adult life, she was employed at several eye centers in Georgia. Her last employment of 19 years was at Dublin Eye Associates, Dublin, Georgia. In 2009 she became the Director of Dublin Eye Surgery Center, a job she thoroughly enjoyed and loved.

During her years of employment in Warner Robins and Dublin, Georgia, Dona had the opportunity to serve poor and underprivileged people around the world. First, with the non-profit organization, Gansu, Inc., she traveled to China with Dr. William and Mrs. Peggy Conrad for several weeks each summer to assist in eye surgery. It was always in her heart to help those in need. While employed with Dublin Eye Associates, she traveled with a surgical team to Honduras. For many years she also helped coordinate a team that traveled to Jamaica. This was no small undertaking; however, Dona loved it. Every summer, she along with "her doctors" and a host of others went to Jamaica to do cataract surgery and other eye procedures. Dona always spoke of how privileged she felt to work with such loving, caring, Christian doctors and nurses.

Dona was predeceased by her mother, Juanita Glass Farr; her maternal grandparents, Raymond and Leila Glass; her sister, Linda Farr Dixon; and her favorite aunt and uncle, Cliff and Eloise Hunnicutt, Jr. She is survived by her children, Jamie, Emily, Derrell and Daniel; two sisters, Sheryl Glass and Gail Dillard (Tony); many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held at 4:00 p.m., August 11, 2020, at Eastbrook Cemetery,
Swainsboro, Georgia. Dona was a member of The Harvester Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Harvester Baptist Mission.
