Mr. Don Kirkland, resident of Old Blundale Road, Midville, died Friday afternoon at his residence.  Don was born Nov. 21,1945 in Swainsboro at Smith Hospital to the late John Lewis Kirkland and Idell Bell Kirkland.  He was a graduate of Swainsboro High School where he was an active member of the FFA and a State winner in the soil judging competition.  Don was a local farmer for many years before owning his own business, K&K Logging.  He was featured in the July 2001 issue of the Logger and Lumberman magazine where  he was described as an "urban logger".  He enjoyed hunting , fishing, spending time with his family and picking on the grandkids. He enjoyed making everyone laugh. Don was preceded in death by his brothers-- J.L. Kirkland,Jr., Dan Kirkland, and Wilder Dale Kirkland and sister Runell K. Thigpen.

Graveside services will be held Monday morning at 11:00 A.M. at  the Kirkland Family Cemetery on Old Blundale Road with Elder Tommy Rountree officiating. The Family will receive friends Sunday evening at Tomlinson Funeral Home  from 6-8 P.M.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years ,Linda Womack Kirkland

Sister-- Gwen Farmer(Joe)--Swainsboro,GA

10 Grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren

Sister-in law- Sonya Kirkland

Brother in Law- David Thigpen
