Della Catherine Townsend
1944-2021

Della Catherine Townsend of Kite, Georgia, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 27, 2021. Born on April 25, 1944, she was reared in Tionesta, Pennsylvania, and moved to Kite with her parents as a young adult. Ms. Townsend operated a karate studio and was an amateur poultry orthopedist, giving advice to poultry owners across the globe. She loved animals and took in many strays.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest and Effie Townsend. She is survived by numerous cousins and many friends. Kite First Baptist Church, where she was a member and sang in the choir, was her adopted family, demonstrating their love for her in many ways. Della was also a faithful member of the Kite Prayer Breakfast Group.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Sardis Cemetery on January 4, 2022, with Reverend Burton Dixon officiating. Family and friends extend thanks to Dr. James Ray and Community Hospice of Vidalia for their professional and compassionate care of Della.
