Funeral services for Charles E Walker, age 92, will be held Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Ivey Baptist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Reverend Louis Pearce and David Oliver will officiate.
Mr. Walker was born June 5, 1932, to the late Loran Lee and Ollie D Walker. He owned and operated Walker's Service Station for 30 years, until 2000. A few months after closing, he became manager at Wrightsville Auto Service Center until 2017. Mr. Walker truly enjoyed working and taking care of all his customers and their vehicle needs. He also loved his family and his church. After retirement, Mr. Walker enjoyed working in his yard, keeping the grass and leaves cut, at least twice a week. He was continuously watching to see when pinecones, limbs, pecans, etc. fell and quickly got that taken care of to keep his yard looking good. Mr. Walker passed away Thursday, August 15, 2024, at The Greenwood Place in Wrightsville.
Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Avis Walker, son, Alan Walker, brother, Franklin Walker, sister, Polly Whitfield, son-in-law, Wendell Grimes and a great granddaughter Abbie Grimes. He is survived by his daughters, Dianne Grimes of Twin City and Cynthia (Cal) Chester, daughter-in-law Alicia Walker, all of Wrightsville, sisters Sadie Chambers of East Dublin and Madie (Emory) Snell of Warner Robins eight grandchildren Kevin (Tammy) Grimes, Foster (Tina) Grimes and B.J. Grimes all of Twin City, Carla (Robert) Harper, Brad (Heather) Walker all of Wrightsville, Amanda (Tony) Handberry of Wadley, Bryan Cooper of Wrightsville and Jessica Walker of East Dublin and 16 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 on Saturday, August 17, 2024, prior to the service at Ivey Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Grimes, Foster Grimes, B.J. Grimes, Brad Walker, Bryan Cooper and Robert Harper.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites friends to make memorial contributions to a charity of their choice or the Gideons if they so desire.
Tomlinson Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements for the services of Mr. Charles E. Walker.
