Mr. Charles D. Henry, 73, native and lifelong resident of Swainsboro, died Tuesday June 21,2016 at Community Hospice House in Vidalia. Mr. Henry was an avid outdoorsman whose hobbies included hunting and fishing. After working more than three decades as an auto mechanic, he became an accomplished and highly regarded gunsmith. Even after officially retiring, there was such demand for his skills that he opened a small gunshop at home where he continued to work until his health would no longer allow him to do so. He was a member of Hebron Baptist Church . Over the years, he was a singer,songwriter, and guitarist for several southern gospel groups including The Gospel Echoes and The Gospel Travelers.

Funeral services for Mr. Charles D. Henry will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 A.M. from the Chapel of Tomlinson Funeral Home with Reverend Jamie Archer and Reverend Bunny Hudson Officiating. Interment will follow in Lambs Cemetery . Pallbearers will be Earl Conrad, Tommy Henry, Claude Sutton, Gerald Henry, Larry Archer, Ray Henry,Brett Jones , and Brandon Jones. The Family will receive friends Wednesday evening between the hours of 6-8 P.M.

Mr. Henry is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years,Peggy Henry of Swainsboro, a daughter, Jane Bell (Paul) of Swainsboro, a son , Chris Henry(Valarie) of Greensboro, NC, a brother Lawton Henry of Wadley ,3 sisters, Clara Anderson and Joyce Grant of Swainsboro, Juanita Kersey of Port Wentworth, many nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Kasy.
