Barbara Chance Jones, age 71, of Swainsboro passed away on Saturday, August 27, at Greenwood Place Assisted Living in Wrightsville after an extended illness.  She was the daughter of Arthur Willie Chance II and Lanelle Riner Chance of Swainsboro.

Mrs. Jones was a retired teacher who treasured any time that she could spend with her granddaughters.  She enjoyed teaching, going to church, listening to others sing old hymns, riding around with her husband, talking on the phone, eating sweets, drinking milkshakes, and playing with her dogs.

She was a member of United Primitive Baptist Church in Swainsboro and a member of the Emanuel Retired Educators Association.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of forty years, Carlton Jones; a special niece, Sherri Dailey Dodd; and a special brother-in-law, Randy Moore.  She is survived by a son, Timothy Jones; a brother, Arthur "Art" Chance (Juneau); two granddaughters, Aubrey St. Aubin and Arabella Lumley; two sisters-in-law, Peggy Dailey and Sara Moore; two nieces, Stephanie Chance Jones and Kelli Moore Brown (Chris); and four nephews, Mark Dailey (Shelia), Shannon Dailey (Lisa), Chris Dailey (Renee), and Kyle Moore (Shannon); and several great-nieces and great-nephews.  Other survivors include four special first cousins who always thought of her as a sister:  Joanne Riner Fritz, Ammy Riner Nelson, Carol Riner Everett, and John Riner; and special friends, Wanda Ellis and John and Carolyn Derden.

The funeral will be on Wednesday, August 31, at United Primitive Baptist Church in Swainsboro with Elder Paul Thomas officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00, and the service will begin at 11:00.  Interment will follow in the Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be John Riner, Hugh Riner, and Steve Riner, Johnathon Riner, Soloman Riner, Robert Riner.

The family respectfully requests that you consider wearing a mask to the service.
