Tomlinson Funeral Home & Crematory announces the death of Barbara Jean Betts (Salmon), age 70, of Powder Springs, Georgia, who passed away on April 11, 2026.
Barbara was born on June 16, 1955, in Dallas, Texas, to the late Roy Salmon and Doris G. Salmon Westinhoffer. She spent much of her life in Florida, where she developed a deep love for the beach and the beauty of nature. Barbara had a passion for gardening and took great pride in her plants and flowers, many of which she lovingly cared for over 30 years after receiving them from her mother. She was talented at sewing, cooking, and baking, and found joy in creating a warm and welcoming home for her family.
Barbara was a loving, strong, and nurturing woman who was deeply devoted to her family. Her greatest joy in life was being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She cherished every moment spent with her children and extended family, and her love for them was the center of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Salmon and Doris G. Salmon Westinhoffer; her sister, Gail Salmon Sullivan; and her stepsons, Anthony "Turk" Betts, and Gernot R. Betts, Jr.; and nephew, Jimmy O'Brian
Barbara is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Gernot R. Betts, Sr. (Pete); her children, Jennifer Gail Roberts, Ryan Saunders, and Roy Clifford "R.C." Saunders; her stepchildren, Jonathon "Johnny" Sanders, Tara (Betts) Cruz, Ginny Dark, and Michael Betts; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her sister, Nancy Salmon; and special nephews.
