Mr. Anthony Walden "Andy" Worthington, 81, resident of Swainsboro, died Sunday morning July 5, 2020, at his residence. Mr. Andy was born in Emanuel County, Georgia, son of the late William (Ed) Worthington and Lucille Walden. He was a graduate of Swainsboro High School , Class of 1956, and a graduate of Emanuel County Jr. College after he returned from military service on the G.I. Bill. He had graduated from Brewton Parker College and Georgia Southern University. He had managed Sam's Drive In and was retired from the Middle Judicial Circuit as a State Probation Officer . Andy had served as a Major in the Georgia State Defense Force. He had coached at Dixie Youth League and volunteered at Swainsboro Primary School and assisted with the Accelerated Reader program for many years . Andy was a member of the Peace Officers Association and was a shriner and a mason. Andy was a member of Kite Baptist Church and attended Ebenezer United Methodist Church.
Graveside services for Mr. Anthony Walden "Andy" Worthington will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at Swainsboro City Cemetery with Reverend Ray Jenkins and Reverend Louis Pearce officiating. Pallbearers will be --Gary Mason, Wendy Underwood, Mark Price, Billy Boulineau, Billy Overstreet and Jonathon Scott. Honorary pallbearers will be the Swainsboro High School Class of 1956. Due to the Covid -19 Pandemic, CDC guidelines will be in place. Please use your masks and remember the social distancing of 6 feet apart. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pruitt Hospice, 667 S. Main Street, Swainsboro, GA 30401 in memory of Mr. Anthony Walden "Andy" Worthington.
