Obituary

Tomlinson Funeral Home & Crematory announces the death of Mr. Alexander Clay Jr. age 92 of Twin City on Friday, August 30, 2024, at Community Hospice in Vidalia.

Mr. Clay was born in Macon to the late Alexander and Alice Ernest Clay, Sr. He was a veteran of the Korean war serving the United States Army and later in the Georgia Air National Guard. Mr. Clay retired from Robin's Air Force Base after 38 years as an Electronic Warfare Supervisor. He was a member of Canoochee Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for many years. He loved woodworking and was the owner of the Old Barn Woodshop. In his retirement he enjoyed restoring antique furniture and genealogy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Sarah Cranford Clay, sister Adelaide Adams, and brother J.T. Hickman.

His Daughter: Melinda Clay Johnson (Greg) of Canoochee

His Sons: Timothy Cranford Clay (Cecilia) of Macon, Gregory Alexander Clay (MeLisa) of Macon, Neil Channing Clay (Suzette) of Canoochee.

Eight Grandchildren: Greg Johnson, Jr. (Melissa), James Clay (Katie), Meghan Johnson Young (Stephen), Ashley Clay Smith (Tanner), Brandon Clay (Liz), Evan Clay (Rachel), Abby Clay Cohen (Josh), Brianna Clay

Great-Grandchildren: Trey Johnson, Joe Johnson, Hank Johnson, Jamie Kate Clay, Campbell Smith, Hudson Smith, Henry Clay Cohen, Johnson Lanier Clay, Walter Reyes Clay

Sister: Jane Godwin of Texas

Nieces, Nephews and extended family

Funeral Services will be Sunday, September 1 2024, at 2:00 Pm at Canoochee Baptist Church with Dr. Stewart Moody officiating.

Interment will follow in the Canoochee Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends during a visitation one hour prior to service.

Pallbearers are Greg Johnson, Jr., James Clay, Evan Clay, Brandon Clay, Josh Cohen, Tanner Smith, Stephen Young, Wade Trawick

Honorary Pallbearers are Dustin Benson, Ryan Patterson, Blake Patterson, Bill Cranford.
